Katy Dyson, PhD.

Katy Dyson, PhD, is an educator, instructional coach, trainer, and consultant with more than 13 years of experience supporting teachers and students across early childhood and elementary settings.

A lifelong educator, Katy knew from an early age that she wanted to teach. Her career has included roles as a classroom teacher, private tutor, instructional coach, adjunct instructor, and researcher. She has taught kindergarten, third grade, and fifth grade, coached infant, toddler, and preschool teachers, and supported educators in a variety of school and early childhood settings.

While pursuing her doctoral studies at Louisiana State University, Katy served as an instructional coach with the Pointe Coupee Early Childhood Coalition, where she partnered with teachers, programs, and community organizations to support quality improvement efforts and strengthen classroom practice. These experiences deepened her understanding of the challenges educators face and reinforced her belief that meaningful professional learning must connect research to the realities of everyday teaching.

Katy's work is grounded in a simple philosophy: professional development should be practical, relevant, and immediately applicable. Her doctoral research explored teacher self-reflection, professional growth, and the role that readiness for change plays in successful professional learning. Through both research and experience, she has learned that lasting improvement happens when educators are given opportunities to reflect on their practice, build on their strengths, and implement meaningful changes over time.

Known for her supportive and collaborative approach, Katy focuses on helping educators identify what is already working and using those strengths as a foundation for growth. Whether working with teachers, instructional leaders, or school teams, her goal is to help educators feel confident, capable, and equipped with strategies they can use to improve classroom practice and student outcomes.
